About the workshop
As the new Hungarian government shapes its approach to Roma equality, this workshop asks what it will take to turn promising local initiatives into coherent, sustainable public policy. Policymakers, practitioners, researchers, civil society and Roma stakeholders, and European institutions will take stock of earlier Hungarian policies and compare them with European experience. The discussion covers the legal, institutional, financial and political conditions that effective desegregation requires.
Three panels cover EU frameworks and Hungarian policy, school desegregation, and housing desegregation. They will explore how EU, national and municipal instruments can support lasting change and where cooperation can go next.
