A Budapesti Fesztiválzenekar alapító tagja\, mé g zeneakadémistaként részt vett a zenekar legelső produkcióiban. 1986 -ban a Zathureczky\, 1988-ban a Hubay hegedűverseny első díjasa. A Kell er vonósnégyes tagjaként 1990-ben két nemzetközi vonósnégyesverseny első helyezettje volt Evianban és Reggio Emiliaban. A kvartettel 1987 és 2010 között Európa és Amerika legnagyobb koncerttermeiben lépett fel\, számos hanglemezfelvételük (Erato\, ECM) nyert jelentős nemzetk özi díjakat (Midem Classical Award\, Diapason d’Or). Több alkalommal tartott kamara mesterkurzusokat külföldön (Norfolk Chamber Music Festiv al - Yale School of Music\, Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival) és vett részt zsűritagként hazai kamarazenei versenyeken. 1995-ben Liszt díjat kapott a vonósnégyessel. 2002-ben jelent meg az ECM gondozásában Keller Andr ással közös lemeze Bartók 44 duójával. Ettől az évtől 16 éven á t volt a Pulzus vonósnégyes primáriusa\, 2012 óta pedig a Budapesti Vo nósok Kamarazenekar koncertmestere. The importance of the initiative is underscored by the fact that world -renowned artists such as András Schiff have lent their support to the pr ogram. The mentor program’s teaching staff represents the cream of Hunga rian music life\, and applicants can learn professional skills from master s who have themselves trained on the world’s most prestigious stages. Th e program is primarily aimed at young ensembles of graduate artists who ar e already actively performing\, but desire the fine-tuning and professiona l guidance that only the greatest masters can provide. Between November 24 and 26\, János Pilz will teach the students. János Pilz earned his degr ee in violin performance at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music as a student of Dénes Kovács\, and subsequently served as concertmaster of the Hunga rian State Symphony Orchestra for two years. A founding member of the Buda pest Festival Orchestra (BFO)\, he participated in the orchestra's very fi rst performances while still a student at the Academy. He won first prize at the Zathureczky Violin Competition in 1986 and the Hubay Violin Competi tion in 1988. As a member of the Keller Quartet\, he won first prize at tw o prestigious international competitions in 1990\, in Évian and Reggio Em ilia. Between 1987 and 2010\, he performed with the quartet in the most re nowned concert halls across Europe and the Americas. Their numerous record ings (released under Erato and ECM) garnered major international accolades \, including the Midem Classical Award and the Diapason d’Or. He has fre quently taught chamber music masterclasses abroad (such as at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival - Yale School of Music\, and the Kuhmo Chamber Musi c Festival) and has served as a jury member at domestic chamber music comp etitions. In 1995\, he was awarded the Liszt Prize alongside the members o f the quartet. In 2002\, his recording of Bartók’s 44 Duos with András Keller was released by ECM. That same year\, he became the first violinis t (primarius) of the Pulzus String Quartet\, a position he held for 16 yea rs. Since 2012\, he has been the concertmaster of the Budapest Strings Cha mber Orchestra. He rejoined the Budapest Festival Orchestra in 2010\, and from 2018 to 2026\, he served as the artistic director and concertmaster o f the BFO’s Concertino series.
