rása:\nIn the early 1990s\, a new musical sound was beginning to emerge f
rom France. It owed a debt to the house and techno from the US that had tr
ansformed dance music. But in Paris and beyond\, those influences were bei
ng absorbed\, distorted and reimagined into something increasingly French.
At a time when many electronic labels across Western Europe were releasin
g and championing artists from Detroit and Chicago\, French labels others
began consciously drawing from a growing pool of homegrown producers\, giv
ing them a platform and\, in the process\, helping a distinctive new music
al identity take shape. Among the figures at the centre of those early yea
rs was Ludovic Navarre\, whose work and collaborations with Laurent Garnie
r\, Shazz and others connected some of the threads that would feed into wh
at later became known around the world as Le French Touch. This story goes
much deeper than Daft Punk\, Phoenix and the artists who would eventually
break into the mainstream. For this listening session\, Warped DJ goes be
neath the surface — into the melodic\, spacey techno of early Navarre\,
 the dubby\, low-slung funk of Motorbass\, the soothing\, sample-heavy trip
-hop of Kid Loco\, the lush\, emotional soundscapes of Jay Alanski\, the i
nnovative\, playful world of Pépé Bradock\, the wobbly\, abrasive sonics
of Mr Oizo\, and much more. There was no single French Touch sound. It co
uld be raw and filtered\, warm and soulful\, strange and psychedelic. It c
an be argued that\, during those early stages in the 90s\, France became o
ne of the world's benchmarks for underground electronic music that was inn
ovative\, essential and accessible. Everything seemed possible — live ja
zz slipped into house\, hip-hop aesthetics met techno\, records could feel
elegant one moment and completely unhinged the next. What began with insp
iration from across the Atlantic became something of its own — and would
eventually travel back out into the world\, helping change the cultural l
andscape of electronic music. This is not simply the familiar story of Fre
nch Touch told through its biggest records. It is an exploration of the la
bels\, producers and ideas beneath the surface — and of a period when Fr
ench electronic music discovered its own voice. Curated and mixed by Warpe
d DJ. Warped DJ Warped DJ\, born and bred in London\, is a music superviso
r by day\, DJ by night\, collector and enthusiast 24/7! His journey into t
he worlds of club culture and film soundtracks is not your usual career pa
th. Whilst working on a PhD in chemistry (under his real name Alick Sethi)
he was captivated by the underground club culture taking over the London
music scene\, inspiring him to start a radio show\, which was picked up by
a national UK station. Alick enjoyed a decade of producing and presenting
The Electric Café (a show that broadcast many genres of underground elec
tronic music)\, meeting and interviewing heroes\, innovators and legends o
f the electronic music scene. This success empowered him to pursue a caree
r in the field of music supervision\, working with film-makers to craft th
eir stories with the aid of music and composers. Throughout these personal
chapters\, Alick has continued to collect\, mix and share music as a cura
tor and a DJ.
sen átalakították a tánczenét. Ám Párizsban és azon túl ezeket az
hatásokat elkezdték magukba szívni\, torzítani és újragondolni\, m
ígnem valami kifejezetten franciássá nem formálódtak. Egy olyan idős
zakban\, amikor Nyugat-Európa számos elektronikus zenei kiadója a detro
ancia kiadók tudatosan a hazai producer generációra kezdtek támaszkodn
 i. Platformot biztosítottak számukra\, és ezzel párhuzamosan segített
ek egy sajátos\, új zenei identitás megformálásában. A korai évek k
dései összekötötték azokat a szálakat\, amelyekből később a vilá
gszerte „Le French Touch”-ként ismertté vált irányzat táplálkozo
tt.
. Ezen a hallgatási szeánszon Warped DJ a felszín alá ás — a korai
Navarre dallamos\, kozmikus technójától kezdve a Motorbass dubos\, laza
  funkján\, Kid Loco megnyugtató\, mintákban gazdag trip-hopján\, Jay A
lanski dús\, érzelmes hangtájain és Pépé Bradock innovatív\, játé
kos világán át egészen Mr Oizo imbolygó\, karcos hangzásáig\, és m
ég azon is túl.
aszaiban Franciaország az underground elektronikus zene egyik globális i
Minden lehetségesnek tűnt: a él
 ő dzsessz belemászott a house-ba\, a hiphop esztétikája találkozott a
an teljesen elborultnak hatottak.
fedezése — egy olyan időszaké\, amikor a francia elektronikus zene me
gtalálta a saját hangját. Kurátor és mix: Warped DJ. Warped DJ Warped
Alick Sethi)\, teljesen magával ragadta a londoni zenei szcénát átvev
ő underground klubkultúra. Ez arra inspirálta\, hogy rádióműsort ind
ítson\, amelyet hamarosan felkapott egy országos brit adó. Alick egy é
vtizeden át készítette és prezentálta a The Electric Café című mű
E személyes fejezetek so
*a belépés ingyenes
