  családi története inspirálta. The story takes place in the late 1970s
 \, somewhere in the Mediterranean. Shipping magnate Marcos Timoleon throws
  a lavish and extravagant birthday celebration for his daughter and only h
 eir\, Sofia\, on his exclusive private island. The event provides the perf
 ect opportunity for those around him to approach him with their wishes and
  selfish interests. Marcos\, however\, is accustomed to controlling everyt
 hing and everyone around him like a godfather\, whatever the cost. He feel
 s that he has already decided his daughter’s future. Sofia\, meanwhile\,
  has brought some important news of her own. As the guests arrive and nigh
 t falls over the island\, the festivities become increasingly wild and unr
 estrained\, while the power struggle between father and daughter hurtles i
 nevitably toward tragedy. The film is an adaptation of Panos Karnezis’s 
 2007 novel of the same title. In creating the character of Marcos Timoleon
 \, the author was inspired by Aristotle Onassis’s rise to power and his 
 family history marked by tragedy.
